February Wrap-Up: Evolution for Educators

March 18, 2019

Bertha Vazquez, Director of CFI’s Teacher Institute for Evolutionary Science (TIES), generously agreed to travel to Buffalo from Florida (in March!) to give a teaching workshop and lecture at headquarters. Bertha’s talk coincided with CFI WNY’s celebration of Darwin Day, an annual recognition of Darwin’s birthday on February 12, 2019.

You can view Bertha’s entire lecture on TIES now on Youtube:

Cafe Inquiry events took place as usual on the first, second, and fourth Mondays of February. Drinking Skeptically was held on February 8, and we discussed the Illuminati and conspiracy theories with organizer Dave Hahn. As usual, SOS meetings took place every Tuesday.

Led by CFI Advisory Board member Ashley Luzak, we organized a Food Drive for the Western New York Food Bank called “Spread the Love.” We collected 66 pounds of donations of peanut butter, jelly, and other non-perishable food items for members of our community in need.
The Potluck Dinner Party and Just Buffalo Literary Cafe in February were canceled due to icy weather.
