Drinking Skeptically is an informal social event designed to promote fellowship and networking among skeptics, critical thinkers, and other like-minded individuals. It provides an opportunity for skeptics to talk, share ideas (and yes, drink) in a casual, relaxed atmosphere. But most of all, we have fun while promoting skepticism, science, and rationality.

We start each event with a kick-off topic to get the conversation rolling, and then discuss whatever else is on our minds.

April: Belief in conspiracy theories is difficult to understand. We typically want to deny them rationality by stereotyping them as basement dwelling tin foil hatters, but that can be both incorrect and disastrous. Jonathan Kay in “Among the Truthers” (2011) identified 5 types of believers in conspiracy theories from failed academics to doomsday prophets. Each of these people have different reasons for belief and should be engaged differently. Join us for a discussion at this month’s Drinking Skeptically.

Rohall’s Corner serves drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) but does not offer food. If you would like to bring food in Rohall’s has told us they would be okay with that.
